“One morning a week, I sort and fold donated clothing at Social Services, work
that becomes meaningful when homeless women come to choose new clothes.
Last week, our clients ranged from one woman who had just soiled herself and
desperately needed a shower and a change, to another who chose her outfits
as carefully as is she were shopping and left looking like the elegant personal
assistant she once was. As different as these two women were in needs and
circumstances, both seemed to leave feeling a little better about their difficult
lives. That’s my reward for working at Social Services.”
